Definition funny of Chad:
A member of the male gender, a Chad is a person, typically named Chad, who goes to bars to pick up chicks. He usually accomplishes this by cockblocking other guys. A Chad can be identified by his appearance which usually consists of the following: mesh trucker hat, frosted hair, greasy spiked hair, polo shirt with the collar turned up, fake tan, ringer t-shirt two sizes too small, pants two sizes too small, wifebeater in public, and a light colored button-up shirt. Chad's also have spent time in a fraternity, will dance by themselves to attract attention, and typically drink light beer.
This bar is full of nothing but Chads. I would have scored with that girl if that Chad would have just shut his piehole.
A stereotypical douchebag asshole/jock/frat boy/ with an ego the size of the planet, who needs a swift roundhouse kick to the jaw, ala Chuck Norris style (though if actually issued by Norris, this punishment may be too extreme, even for a chad). Basically, they think they're the best at everything, love to talk shit, and are a general nuisance in every way possible. A chad is somewhat easy to sight, as they're everywhere, but the only way to know for sure is to talk to/observe one. They typically dress in a similar manner to a "bro", though are not in fact bros. They either wear the latest fashionable clothing from big brands, or highly expensive graphic tees, most likely of the MMA (Mixed martial arts) variety. They most likely sport a tribal tattoo, or something of the like. They most commonly drive V6 Mustangs, S10 pickup trucks, or crotch rockets. Chads can be found in large numbers at Frat houses, local hipster bars, and nu metal concerts (which are obviously real metal shows...). They often travel in groups of a few, but can be found in swarms at these establishments. Other than being cocky and talking shit, other popular pastimes of chads include, but are not limited to: beer pong, racing hondas, UFC, and blasting nu metal on their stereo because they think it makes them look like a badass. Again, not to be confused with the bro, who may or may not share some of these characteristics, but is actually cool, and therefore, is ok to hang around with.
Dude 1: Dude, this bar is totally full of chads tonight, what gives? Dude 2: It's $1 Bud Light Night. Don't you know? They only like light beer. Dude 1: Meh, screw this. Let's go somewhere else and grab a pitcher of Newcastle.
A stereotypical asshole jock.
Some chad knocked me into a table when he shoved some guy and now my arm hurts.
A narcissistic pathological liar with sociopathic tendencies. Has a tendency to tell stories that are completely untrue to perpetuate lies about people he claims are his friends and lies about his own life to ellicit emotions, like sympathy and envy, from his friends. He is intelligent enough that it takes a while to catch on to his lies. Often, there is no point to his lies - he tells them just to tell them.

I've often found that others feel Chad is a powerful name, dominant. Males seem to perceive some need to show off their own strength to males named Chad, usu. behavior in response to a threat upon their perceived dominance. Females self-describe themselves being inexplicably drawn to those w/ the name. Those w/ this name are usually surprised to hear an objective assessment of their name to be one of such strength for the first time.

Growing up, I was ambivalent for the most part - on occasion I noticed Chad's were few in number. As I realized the uncommonness, I started to greatly appreciate my parents choice of a name that WAS NOT a common one, nor at the top of any chart. This had the affect of making me stand out even more. It was more personally identifying & never mistaken by anyone. While most of my peers either shared names w/ innumerable others or had "feminine-like" or soft/weak names [ex: Braden, Tyler/Skyler, Trent, Caden, Jordan, etc], my appreciation for NOT being like any of those grew stronger & stronger over time as I matured.
Among my friends (male) who boasted of having cool & uncommon names [ex: Liam, Declan, Evan] of Gaelic, Celtic, Scottish origins, I was surprised to find that Chad comes from those same anguages! In fact, it's stongly suggested that Chad was used in the common root language for which those three arose, apparently used in reference to the tribal leader of battles/war.
None known, nor encountered in past.
Though incorrect, some people have assumed Chad is short/nickname of Chadwick. Interestingly, an endearing twist I've heard used by friends/family & in a friendly/kind manner is: "Chad-ley", maybe as in Bradley? Unsure how they thought it up as it would've never occured to me! :-)
Common ones: Chadwick, Chadley
Uncommon ones: Chadillac, Chadster, "the Chad"
Chad itself can be a nickname for Chaddock.
After researching the origins of Chad, it was very cool to see that my name originates from the (pre)Celtic word Cad, meaning "battle, warrior" - a name used for the tribe's chief-king (battle or war leader), possibly evolving into an honorary title. This manner of use for the name continued into later times. The Welsh used it under the same spelling. In Old English it's spelled Ceadda, but it's meaning remained the same.
The name fell in use during the Renaissance, but never disappeared. It reappeared in force around the mid 1960's, first seen & identified w/ "surfer"-types in California - likely rediscovered by that era's "counter-culture" parents looking for new uncommon "old" names w/ deep meanings & heritage. Ceadda was modernized into the contemporary Chad. This name is UNrelated to the name ChadWICK, which at best means "Milk farm" of Chad's - or something to that effect.
